Stuck in the stress-sleep cycle?
The value of staff wellbeing goes beyond ensuring people are well enough to come into work. When your staff are sleeping properly and have ways to manage stress, they gain the clarity, confidence and resilience to reach their full potential at work.
The problem is it’s easy to get stuck in an unhealthy stress-sleep cycle. When people aren’t given the tools to manage stress levels, deal with worries outside of work and wind down from a busy day, they struggle to sleep. This is a slippery slope because a lack of sleep makes us more susceptible to stress and interferes with productivity, problem solving and communication. As a result, the cycle of high stress and a lack of sleep continues.
It’s not healthy and it certainly isn’t conducive to a positive work environment, but there is a way to break the cycle.
Level 1: Sleep
Productivity losses due to poor sleep cost the UK economy an average of £37 billion a year. 2% of the nation's GDP. - RAND Europe
Sleep is the foundation of workplace wellbeing and a key ingredient to peak performance. Proper restorative sleep supports mental wellbeing, physical health, productivity and problem-solving skills. By learning the science behind sleep’s impact on performance and implementing strategies for optimising their sleep routine and environment, your team will feel better, more energised and able to focus on doing their best work.
Level 2: Stress
17.1 million working days are lost each year in the UK because of work-related stress, anxiety and depression. - Health and Safety Executive
The next layer of workplace wellbeing is stress management. Even in the most positive work environment, life happens and employees face challenges outside of work. Whether stress is work-related or personal, it interferes with our ability to concentrate and drive performance. By implementing workplace stress management strategies, particularly changing the perception around handling challenges, your team will feel more calm, in control and build greater resilience to tackle obstacles.
Level 3: Confidence
98% of workers say they perform better when they feel confident. - Indeed
Feeling healthier and happier due to the support of restorative sleep and workplace stress management strategies, your staff will have room to grow. We can work on building their confidence in accepting feedback constructively, contributing ideas, collaborating with their colleagues and pushing themselves to achieve more, such as taking on more responsibility. Equipped with confidence-building strategies, your team can reach the potential you see in them.

Train Your Team Like Olympic Athletes
Did you know Olympic athletes train their brains to help them achieve extraordinary results? Their training regime often includes solution-focused hypnotherapy, one of the core modalities in the Workplace Wellbeing Solution.
Hypnosis is simply a natural state of focused attention and concentration. We experience it when we get lost in a book or film, scroll on our phones or zone out while driving, getting to our destination without remembering passing some of the landmarks on the drive itself.
It’s a powerful state for wellbeing and performance because it lowers stress hormones and resets the nervous system. This alone has a positive impact on our mental and physical health. But there’s more to hypnotherapy.
When in hypnosis, we are more open to suggestions and creating new neural pathways that break unhealthy habits and introduce new positive behaviours. This supports the successful implementation of changes in sleep routines, workplace stress management, confidence and performance improvement.
With solution-focused hypnotherapy, we prime the brain to achieve desired outcomes, just like an athlete visualising winning a gold medal. It’s often quicker than talk therapy so it’s a great strategy to have in the workplace wellbeing toolkit for both group and individual sessions.
P.S. Remember an investment in your people is an investment in your business. See how your business develops when you give your people the tools for health, happiness and high performance at work.
